A Series of Letters

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I have learned that friends occasionally become argumentative even when there's nothing but a spread of love and peace. You see, Spike had fallen in love with the younger sister of one of my friends, and we had became rather shaken by the idea of a dragon and a pony together. Shaken enough that we had gotten into some arguments blaming ourselves, each other, and even others not involve with this in any way. Thankfully, we realized that we shouldn't allow for our own conflicts to get in the way of others.

Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle

Dear Twilight Sparkle,

Why were you “shaken by the idea of a dragon and a pony together”? There's nothing wrong with it.

Sincerely, Celestia

Dear Princess Celestia,

There's nothing wrong with it. It's just that I think dragons and ponies are meant to be together in love. Not to mention, dragons live so much longer than ponies. I already can't bear to imagine what'll things be like for Spike when we're all gone. I couldn't stand to let him be in love when it's so obvious he would be taking a path ending in sorrows.

Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle

Dear Twilight Sparkle,

And do you not think I've taken a “path ending in sorrows”? Do you not think I have ever been in love? Do you think I have never mourn the lost of those closest to me? How do you think I move on when I had faced numberless deaths of friends and loved-ones? It is because I had taken those paths in the first place. It is, after all, to have love and loss rather than have not love at all.

Sincerely, Celestia

Dear Princess Celestia,

I did not mean to offend you. I only meant that I did not want Spike to go down a path without thinking about it. Besides, there is still the fact that a love between a dragon and an Earth pony would be breaking many social taboos.

Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle

Dear Twilight Sparkle,

Why did you specify the pony as being an Earth pony? Although that does remedy your concern of Spike outliving the pony he loves, as the immune systems of Earth ponies are strong enough that blood transfusions between them and dragons are possible under proper care. Such a transfusion would then lead to the Earth pony living as long as the dragon. However, I must ask,why do you think this romance would break non-existent social taboos? Do you assume that just because there is so few of a thing, it is because there is hatred of it?

Sincerely, Celestia

Dear Princess Celestia,

I do not mean to come off in such a way. It's just that I had never heard of such a thing as a dragon and a pony in love before, and I could only assume that it was because everypony were against it. It is good to hear that there is possibility for the extension of life, however, and I am glad that it could be done if this romance lasts. Still it remains however, that Spike will still face many sorrows because he will life such a long life.

Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle

Dear Twilight Sparkle,

Did you not note what I had wrote previously? No matter how painful those sorrows may be, the magic of friendship will stand strong against them, and shall last long past those that held it. Spike is plentiful in friends, and I know he will overcome these sorrows, just as I know you'll be able to overcome the sorrows you shall face. For now, enjy life in the moment, but be sure to consider the future moments as well. I look forward to your next letter about what you have learned tomorrow.

Sincerely, Celestia
